I started subscribing to Amazon’s Al Dente and came across this article, Freshen Up Your Lemonade With Rosemary Simple Syrup. What, I thought, is Rosemary Simple Syrup?
Apparently, it’s a southern thing. Stella Cadente writes about “Bastille Cafe & Bar’s rosemary lemonade. As if fresh squeezed lemonade isn’t enough of a treat in its own right, Bastille sweetens theirs with rosemary simple syrup, and garnishes it with a fragrant sprig to boot.”
“How to do just about everything” eHow writes, “While the normal syrup is simply syrup, these syrups can be infused with different flavors to make exotic syrups and thus exotic drinks or desserts. Rosemary is a great herb to try.”
We have a three foot high Rosemary plant outside our back door that I’ve used for cooking with pork on the BarBee. I either place sprigs on top of the pork or under it. Now I’m anxious to make my own Rosemary Simple Syrup.
